Highlands Park

History of Highlands Park

Highlands Park is Concord's oldest park, and it has a long and rich history. The land for the park was originally part of a ranch owned by Don Salvio Pacheco, one of Concord's founding fathers. In the early 1900s, the City of Concord purchased the land from Pacheco to turn it into a park. Highlands Park was officially dedicated in May of 1914.

Over the years, Highlands Park has undergone several major renovations. In the 1950s, the City of Concord installed a new irrigation system and built a new playground area. In the 1970s, the park's main entrance was redesigned, and new walking trails were added. Most recently, in 2006, the park underwent a $2.5 million renovation that included new picnic areas, a new playground, and improved walking trails.

Today, Highlands Park is one of Concord's most popular parks. It's a great place to enjoy the outdoors, spend time with friends and family, or just take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

About the Park

The 9-acre Highlands Park is a great place to go if you want some peace and relaxation. The historic school across Pine Hollow Road from this spot makes it even more interesting! With rolling terrain with trees meandering throughout, there are scenic views as well as an assortment of children's play areas including two separate toddler zones complete with sandboxes--perfect spots for kids who get restless after spending too much time outside during these summer months (or any other season).

You'll also find ball fields where residents can sit on swings overlooking beautiful Lake Minnewaska while awaiting their coffee break; however, they may need help finding shade because most facilities at elevation suffer due to lack of sun exposure. Luckily, there are also picnic tables and pavilions for those who want to enjoy their lunch in the shade. It's an ideal spot to hold picnics, birthday parties, or even weddings.

Amenities

Highlands Park has several amenities that make it popular for residents and visitors alike. Here are some:

1. Ballfields

Highlands Park is a great place to enjoy an active lifestyle with friends and family. The ball fields, soccer pitches, and running trails will keep you entertained all day long while enjoying beautiful views of the city from one of our park's highest points! Dogs are allowed on leashes up six feet in designated areas where they're most welcome - just make sure not to interrupt your fun by distractions like other animals who might be present (there can sometimes even be coyotes).

2. Creative play areas for children

At Highlands Park, there are two creative play areas for children. One of them includes a metal structure like a zipline where they can have fun flying through the air and seeing how high up they get without getting wet while another interest is a seesaw which provides an opportunity to take turns safely sitting on opposite ends. It's great if you need some time away from electronics or just wants something slow paced because all activity happens right here in front your eyes so no other distractions exist around us either way!

User experience also gets better when amenities promote people staying longer at their location since this makes it more likely someone will enjoy himself/herself during his stay-especially with young ones who may become bored easily otherwise.

3. Rolling turfed terrain with a variety of trees and meandering paths

The beautiful rolling turfed terrain with a variety of trees and meandering paths makes Highlands Park the perfect place to take a stroll or go for an invigorating run. The views from the park are simply breathtaking and offer a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

4. Picnic spots

There are several picnic spots located throughout Highlands Park. Whether you're looking for a spot to have an intimate lunch with a friend or you're looking for a place to have a large family gathering, Highlands Park has the perfect spot for you. There are also pavilions available for rent if you're looking for a covered area.

Highlands Park is the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family. With plenty of activities to keep you entertained, stunning views of the city, and picnic spots for a relaxing lunch, Highlands Park has something for everyone. So come on down and enjoy all that the park has to offer!
